Bush for Life volunteers look after many precious native bushland
sites by removing weeds that compete for space and sun so they can
regenerate naturally.
Come and Try bushcare days are a chance to
give it a go for yourself and see how you can make a difference in your
local patch. It's also a great way to see different areas that you may
not usually visit or know about, meet new people and learn what the
Australian bush is all about within suburbia.
Come and Try
bushcare days run from 9.00am - 3.30pm but participants are welcome to
attend for a few hours, or for a half or full day. Transport yourself to
the site or register to catch our minibus which can transport you from
our Brooklyn Park office or from a designated pick-up point on the way.
No
prior knowledge or experience is required. All the training, equipment
and personal safety gear will be provided on the day by our friendly and
knowledgeable staff.
This activity is suitable for anyone who is in general good health.
There is some bending, kneeling and squatting involved as well as
walking a short distance on uneven ground. Any children (17 or under)
must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. This activity is most suited
to ages 15+.
Participants will be sent more detailed information about where to meet on the day after they register (book a ticket).
On the day you will need:
* Suitable clothing (hat, long pants and long sleeved shirt)
* Boots or strong shoes (with good grip)
* Drinking water, a snack and lunch
* Folding chair
* Sunscreen and insect repellent
Bushcare volunteering is a rewarding and practical way to help your local environment.
