Join us at the Art Gallery of South Australia for First Fridays, a monthly celebration held on the first Friday of every month. First Friday offers a dynamic and ever-changing curated program featuring live music, engaging talks, and insightful tours. Discover the latest exhibitions and displays, unwind to the sounds of live music, and enjoy thought-provoking discussions as the gallery extends its hours until 9pm.
First Friday in October is hosted by Nature Festival. This year's Nature Festival theme, "Awe," celebrates the profound sense of wonder that nature inspires. Experience the vastness and mystery of the world, from the magic of dappled sunlight to the miracle of a tiny insect, as the festival showcases South Australia’s deep love of nature through arts, music, Aboriginal culture, food, wine, and adventure for all ages.
Join us as we officially open Pleasance from 5pm in the Courtyard.
Inspired by the meandering, tranquil flow of the nearby Karrawirra Parri/River Torrens, Pleasance is an immersive architectural folly conceived of as a collaboration between Super Bloom + Fallow. Located in the courtyard sculpture garden of the Art Gallery of South Australia, Pleasance is a living artwork that extends from the marquee into a living artwork, where plants and sculptures frame intimate moments of connection. Designed using unexpected combinations of species, this plant-forward experience invites the viewer to pause and revel in a journey through a rich tactile field of colour, beauty and awe.
Pleasance will continue to be open during Gallery Hours: September 27th - October 19th.
Other Events at First Friday Include:
