Picture in your mind a huge and stately redgum, growing proudly against the skyline in the Flinders Ranges, or a towering Mountain Ash tree in a forest in the high country of the Australian Alps. These are what springs to mind when many people think of eucalypts; tall, wide, tiny flowers, dominating the space they occupy. But, there are many species that are small in stature and big in flower, perfect for the home garden and urban landscape!
Let me take you on a journey through one woman’s obsession with ornamental eucalypts, and her efforts to create ‘designer trees’ that will suits everyone’s tastes and fit into everyone’s garden.
